Color The Future
My mom became a pilot but would often be mistaken as a flight attendant because of gender bias. I wanted to find a way to change perspectives and encourage girls to go after their dreams despite social expectations. I decided to illustrate a coloring book and as I was doing research I noticed most coloring books were of caucasian princesses or Barbies. There is not enough cultural representation and the pictures didn't discourage gender bias.
It's important to me that everyone feel represented and encourage to pursue their passions in life. Each coloring page will have a quote by a women giving words of encouragement. Once they have finished coloring the page they can hang it up by their mirror as a daily reminder. My next step is to finish illustrating 15-20 pages and get it self published through Barns & Noble.
